Event Details

NBTA RULES WILL BE IN EFFECT.

  • The entry deadline was May 12th at Midnight. No late entries are being accepted.
  • Payment can be made using a Credit Card with the entry form, or you can pay via Venmo (@nbtatxstatecentx), CashApp ($nbtatxstatecentx), or check ($15 fee for returned checks).
  • There are NO REFUNDS for any reason, including change of personal plans/availability, change of venue, change of date, change of judges, change of format, change of schedule, or change of safety requirements. For questions about our refund policy, please email nbtatexasstatecentx@gmail.com. 


All LISTED coaches will receive a copy of the entrants in the State Pageants, State Solos, and State X-Struts in advance of the event. Please double check this confirmation to ensure your athletes have entered the correct events. If there is a question on a contestant's eligibility in a division, it must be handled by May 26th, 2023. Proof of wins must be submitted to the State contest directors. No complaints or challenges will be accepted on the contest day. 


All twirlers that move to a higher division after registering must email us by June 4, 2023, at nbtatexasstatecentx@gmail.com to ensure proper division adjustments can be made in time.


Admission Surcharge/Family Surcharge

  • There is a door/facility surcharge of $50 included with every solo entry that allows all friends and family to be admitted to the facility at no additional charge.
  • This surcharge includes one program. 
  • If there is more than one child per family, only one surcharge will be charged, but sibling entries must be submitted same day, and only one program will be included per family. If you will need another program for the additional twirler, it must be purchased. 
  • In order to utilize the family surcharge option, the additional entrants must be legal siblings to the initial entrant. Cousins, family friends, and teammates do not qualify. 


Attendee Behavior

  • By entering the facility doors, all attendees (including coaches, parents, competitors, and guests) agree to maintaining proper behavior for the duration of the event; to being respectful to competitors and contest staff, and only being in the areas in which attendees are allowed. Any attendees that cause any form of issue, including bringing unnecessary attention to themselves, engage in any physical or verbal altercations, or that are involved in the destruction of property of any value level, will be removed from the facility and dealt with by the onsite Georgetown PD officer, and associated athletes may be disqualified. 


Friday Night Open Gym

  • If the schedule timeline allows, once all events are completed and the judges have cleared the gym on Friday after modeling events, the floor will be opened for one hour of open gym time for those that pre-registered and paid for access.
  • Pre-registration will not be included in the registration form. Instead, once we know the estimated time that will be available, we will send out a pre-registration form and payment method for those that wish to utilize this open gym time option.  
  • Wristbands will be provided in check in bags for those that pre-registered to use open gym. Wristbands must be worn on the wrist or ankle to be able to remain in the gym area. 


Access to Competition Floor

  • Only contestants, contest officials, and workers are allowed on the competition floor. Parents and teachers are asked to please not enter the competition area.
  • For contestants in the 0-6 category, one parent or coach may accompany them to the ready line. No parents or coaches may pass the lane stanchions and boundaries. 
  • Please see the head table if you need anything related to lane conflicts. 
  • Practice space will be provided in the Auxiliary gym and during lunch breaks. No practicing will be allowed around the edges of the competition floor.  


Concessions & Outside Food

  • Concessions will be provided by the EVHS Colorguard. Please support them!
  • Absolutely no alcoholic beverages or smoking will be allowed on campus grounds.
  • Only beverages with a screw top lid and small snacks are allowed in the gymnasium. All other drinks or food must remain in/be consumed in the gym lobby area.

Music Submission

All Individual & Team music must be emailed to the Directors at nbtatexasstatecentx@gmail.com by May 12, 2023. We will be preloading the music into our system to eliminate sound checks and music malfunctions. This includes Teams, Collegiate Solo, Rhythmic Twirl, & Show Twirl.


Packet Pick-Up

  • Programs, patches, and t-shirts will be available for pick up at the school on Friday at 4:00 pm at the check in table in the gym lobby, or on Saturday at the head table. 
  • The modeling set list will be posted on the event BAND App on Wednesday so that families are prepared ahead of time with the order for the Friday events.

Order of Appearance

  • All contestants are required to perform in the order that they appear in this program. Please be sure to show your name sign before you compete at each lane.
  • Saturday: Individual events will begin with the letter "S". Teams, Collegiate, Show Twirl, and Rhythmics events will follow the order listed in the program. 
  • Sunday: Individual events will follow the order in this program. This order was determined by the first entries in are the last to perform. 


Use of the Set System & Reporting to Lanes

  • Each contestant should report to their lane two numbers prior to their performance set. At no other time will the contestants be allowed on the competition floor. Upon completion of performance, the contestant will leave the competition floor immediately. 
  • Failure to report to a lane on time will result in a penalty no less than two points, and up to disqualification, at the discretion of the head judge. 


Video Taping & Photography

  • Per NBTA rules, while photography & videotaping is allowed, you may only take photos or videos of your own child or student.
  • Handheld battery powered cameras are allowed, but large tripods that may block the view of others are not.  No flash photography is allowed. 
  • Failure to follow these rules may result in disqualification of the associated student/competitor or removal of the twirler/parent/person doing the videoing. 


Award Postings & Pick-Up

  • All placements will be posted on the BAND App and on the facility walls with the exception of the Groups, Show Twirl, Collegiate, Rhythmic Twirl, Beg/Int/Adv Pageants, Beg/Int/Adv State X-Struts, Beg/Int/Adv State Solos, and Basic Skills Pageant Awards. These events will be announced in the Award Ceremonies and then will be posted in the BAND App after. 
  • No placements will be posted Friday. Friday events will be posted on Saturday after lunch. 
  • Only Miss Texas Model Awards will be posted & available for pick-up on Saturday.
  • All other posted event awards, including multi baton, will be posted and picked-up Sunday.

Receiving & Checking Scoresheets

  • All scoresheets for events announced at an award ceremony will be available in an envelope after awards. Details for pick-up location will be announced at awards. 
  • We request that all contestants check their scores for errors before leaving the contest facility. The facility will remain open 30 minutes following the award ceremony. All errors must be presented to the lead tabulator for correction during this time. If errors are not corrected during that time, the contest results will remain as posted and announced.  


A short meeting for Texas coaches and judges will be held during the lunch break on Saturday, June 17th, in the Band Hall at EVHS. All Texas coaches and judges are welcome. 


ALL ITEMS ON THE MEETING AGENDA MUST BE EMAILED TO THE DIRECTORS BY JUNE 2, 2023 TO BE INCLUDED. No additional topics will be included. 


Written requests for Directorship for State 2024 are required in advanced by June 2, 2023.

Miss Majorette of Texas & Texas State Pageants

20% Model & Interview - 40% X-Strut - 40% Solo

  • Advanced pageants will have two judges for each event. 
  • Beginner & Intermediate pageants will have one judge for each event.


Modeling Attire: 

All Beg. & Int. Pageant competitors should wear a Strut or Twirl costume for modeling. 


All Advanced Pageant competitors should wear an age specific dress:

  • 0 to 6 (Little Miss) - Short Party Dress
  • 7 to 9 (Juvenile) - Short Party Dress
  • 10 to 12 (Pre-Teen) - Short or Long Dress
  • 13 to 15 (Junior) - Long Dress
  • 16+ (Senior) - Long Dress


In the modeling competition, all contestants shall first model in a Circle T Pattern, and then, upon Judge's signal, walk up to the judge's table for a short sit-down interview. 


Top 3 Advanced Pageant placements are eligible to represent the State of Texas in the Miss Majorette of America Pageants. Only the first place Beginner & Intermediate winners are eligible to represent the State of Texas in the Beginner & Intermediate Pageants at AYOP. 


College Miss Majorette of Texas Pageant

  • 20% Modeling & Interview - 40% X-Strut - 40% Multi Baton College Solo
  • Modeling Attire: Long Dress.
  • All College participants are eligible for the College Miss Majorette of America Pageant. 


Basic Skills Pageant

  • 20% Modeling (no interview) - 40% Basic Marching - 40% One Baton Solo
  • Modeling Attire: Strut or Twirl Costume.
  • Open to Novice contestants (one baton solo status determines eligibility).
  • This event does not establish eligibility for any AYOP contest. 
  • You may not enter both Basic Skills Pageant and a Beg/Int/Adv Pageant


Miss Texas Model Pageant

  • 50% Modeling - 50% Interview
  • Modeling Attire: Strut or Twirl Costume OR Short or Long Dress.
  • Will be offered by individual age except 0-6 and 17+ will be their own divisions. 


2023 NBTA Rules will be in effect. Full NBTA rules can be found at BatonTwirling.com. Below are some select rule reminders, but please make sure to review the full rules before attending. 


Visitor & Open Events + IBTF Ratings

  • Visitor Events are offered to out-of-state contestants only. 
  • Visitors can enter both Open and Visitor events. 
  • Open X-Strut & Solo can be entered by anyone as a warmup prior to state events.
  • IBTF Events will be offered solely as a ratings and can only be registered for by Team USA members competing in that event at the World Championship or Nations Cup in England.


Contest Age

  • A competitors actual age on September 1, 2022 determines their competitive age.


No Double Entering Allowed

  • No double entering will be allowed for any State, Visitor, or Open events.


Competitive Divisions

  • Novice - Never won 5 first place novice wins, or first place is a higher division.  
  • Beginner - Never won 5 first place beginner wins, or first place is a higher division. 
  • Intermediate - Never won 8 first place intermediate wins, or first place is a higher division.
  • A Beginner or Intermediate pageant contestant may win a total of two beginner and/or two intermediate titles (at the State/Regional level), regardless of the age division in which wins occur. This repeat Pageant ruling does not apply to 0-6 Little Miss division wins. The number of 0-6 Beginner or Intermediate Pageant wins is unrestricted. 


No Gymnastics/Tumbling Allowed

  • No gymnastics includes body aerials, walkovers, cartwheels, butterflies, somersaults, etc.
  • The penalty is disqualification.


Protection Rule

  • Protection rules apply at the local, state, and regional competition level. Should a novice, beginner, or intermediate contestant not demonstrate promotable ability, the judge may use the first place "Protection Rule" to prevent the win from counting toward advancement. Awards will be presented as advertised. 
  • Protections will be indicated by the judge noting a "JP" or "PR" on the scoresheet.
  • Protection rule may be used in individual pageant categories, but not the overall title.

  • Novice                0:30-2:00 min
  • Beginner           1:30-2:00 min
  • Intermediate   1:50-2:10 min
  • Advanced          2:20-2:30 min


X-Strut Time Limits

  • Novice                0:30-2:00 min
  • Beginner           1:30-2:00 min
  • Intermediate   1:30-2:00 min
  • Advanced          1:30-2:00 min


Two Baton Time Limits

  • Novice                0:30-2:00 min

Ratings Events

  • In addition to our regular twirling contest, we will have a ratings contest. You will be judged on your own ability and will not be competing against other contestants. 
  • Ratings will be open Friday evening for modeling events only.
  • Ratings will be open Saturday starting at 8:10 am until Lunch Break.
  • Ratings will be open Sunday starting at 8:10 am until no longer needed.
  • The only individual music events offered will be IBTF Event Ratings for Team USA members.
